Country comparison tool
The Hofstede model, also known as the 6-D Model of National Culture, provides insights into a country’s culture based on its cultural values. Developed by Professor Geert Hofstede, this model has proven valuable in enhancing communication and collaboration across diverse cultural backgrounds within organisations.
How does it work?
- The Hofstede model allows you to select one or multiple countries to compare their cultural dimensions across six key aspects.
- At Norecs trainings, we often use this model to gain an overview of a country’s prevailing culture and initiate discussions about cultural differences.
- However, it’s essential to approach this tool with caution. While it can be enlightening, Hofstede’s model has limitations that may inadvertently reinforce stereotypes associated with specific nations.
- Remember that each of us identifies with various roles beyond nationality—such as sibling, parent, ethnicity, religion, dietary preferences, and personal beliefs.
Feel free to explore the model, but always consider the broader context and individual nuances when interpreting the results. 🌍🌟
