Vision and values
The world is full of knowledge and skills. Through mutual exchange we teach each other to think bigger, live sustainably, and build responsible local communities.
Norec has over 50 years of experience in coordinating the exchange of personnel between workplaces across different countries and cultures. We know that, through the exchange of personnel, knowledge is challenged, changed and created, and understanding and tolerance increase. By training both the exchange participants and their coordinators thoroughly before and after the exchange, we ensure that the competence will be transferred to the rest of the workplace. In this way, the organization becomes stronger and can deliver better services in its local communities. Therefore, this is our vision:
The world is full of knowledge and skills. Through mutual exchange we teach each other to think bigger, live sustainably, and build responsible local communities.
Core value – reciprocity
Reciprocity is a core value and a guiding principle for Norec. In a reciprocal partnership, all partners give and receive, contributing their own skills and experience and benefiting from their partners’ expertise in turn.
All partners are equal in a reciprocal partnership. Each party has the power and authority to influence the processes and decisions that affect them.
The partners must collaborate on project development, goal setting, recruitment and participant follow-up, and must demonstrate transparency about their use of resources and budget. They each set their own goals, but as partners, they also commit to helping each other to achieve these goals.
Building trust is essential. We know that reciprocity in a partnership is developed over time. This growing trust leads to the sharing of responsibilities, mutual ownership of each other’s results, and a common understanding of challenges. Reciprocity helps each partner to clarify their own contribution to, respect for, and ownership of their own goals, while facilitating their participation in the development of society.
Behavioral values
In addition to reciprocity, Norec has some behavioral values that should characterise both employees and participants. Each value is paired with another, in keeping with Norec’s multi-dimensional approach.
Challenge and show respect.
Be engaged and professional.
