Managing Mental Health While Working Abroad

Zoom

While most employees and volunteers have a happy, meaningful and rewarding time abroad, some days may prove to be more challenging than others. Culture shock, loneliness, missing dear ones at home and being challenged in a new working and social environment are but some of the factors that may induce feelings of self-doubt and uncertainty. While such challenges are part and parcel of international volunteering, there are things we can do to prepare and remain resilient in such situations: increasing our awareness of common challenges and maintaining a sound mental hygiene. This two-part workshop will teach participants about how to manage mental resilience and let interested participants find solutions to such issues together.

In this interactive webinar, Dr. Ben Weinstein will share scientific insights about stress and resilience along with validated techniques for coping with challenges that foster smooth adjustment.  Throughout the webinar, participants will be invited, but not required, to share their own experiences with stress and resilience as well as discussing how their current or new coping strategies can be deployed to empower their success in the volunteer assignment.

This is a webinar for Norec participant – currently ON exchange abroad. Hence, the invitation to sign up will be sent directly via mail.

The webinar will be on Zoom, from 2 PM to 4 PM wednesday 11th of December. The time zone is based on Norwegian time GMT +1. Please make sure to check your timezone!
