Seminars and Guidance

Interested in learning more about work exchanges and international cooperation? Norec offers seminars and guidance to share the knowledge that we have acquired and developed over decades in the field.

Guidance

This guidance primarily targets those working with aid or towards UNs sustainable development goals.

Norec has 55 skilled employees with high expertise and a vast network of partners and former participants. As of 2025, this network consists of more than 2,300 people from around 88 countries – all of whom have worked on various sustainability challenges across different sectors, countries, and cultures.

We utilize both our own expertise and the knowledge within our network to tailor programs relevant to the challenges your organization faces. With more than 60 years of experience, we provide pre-departure and return courses, as well as a range of customized thematic programs for actors working with intercultural challenges and cross-border partnerships.

We know that every project comes with its own challenges. Feel free to contact us if you’d like to learn more about what we can offer.

Trainings and seminars

Of course! Here is the translation:

We also organize open courses and seminars that may be relevant for those working with exchanges and international collaborations. You can find an overview of upcoming events here.

Examples of courses and workshops we offer include:

Pre-departure Course: Norec’s pre-departure course is designed to prepare participants for international travel and collaboration. The course covers a range of topics essential for successful work trips to the Global South, such as intercultural challenges and opportunities, safety and preparedness, ethical dilemmas in global partnerships, and practical tips and resources.

Homecoming Seminar: Many employees have found that returning home poses greater challenges than going abroad. This seminar covers topics such as handling reverse culture shock, mapping acquired experience and knowledge, and how to apply this in a new organization. The course is relevant for employees who have worked abroad for more than six months and are returning home.

How to Succeed in Global Partnerships: Based on many years of experience and research, we offer advice on success factors that help some succeed in cross-border and cross-cultural collaborations. This course is ideal for those starting a new project, primarily with the partners they will be working with.

Course in Security and Preparedness: Norwegian employers are required to have good routines for security and preparedness, even when they send employees abroad. However, within aid work, it can be particularly challenging to be well-prepared for crisis situations and to monitor the risk landscape. The goal of this course is to make employers aware of risks and provide input on how to establish satisfactory competence, routines, and systems for security and preparedness in aid work.

Our courses are conducted either physically or digitally. We aim to tailor the delivery to the client’s needs. The courses are free, and we will provide them as long as we have available capacity. The client must cover any travel expenses to and from the course location.
