DIGITAL HOMECOMING TRAINING, MAY-JUNE

28
May

Digital

In the period end of May to 20th June we will conduct two digital homecoming trainings. This is offered to participants who are not able to join our on-site training in Nairobi in June. We are in dialogue with our partners in order to conclude the final dates.

The homecoming training is for Norec exchange participants who are about to return to or have recently returned to their home countries at the end of their exchange.

All Norec exchange participants shall attend both a preparatory and a homecoming training.

Norec trainings use participatory methods and are characterized by active engagement from all participants, critical thinking and problem-solving, and group work. The digital training will follow the same principles, but it is shorter than our on-side training – and it will normally be done over three days.

After you are signed up you will receive your e-learning materiel and other tasks that you should do before we meet.

  • Homecoming training

All Norec exchange participants about to return to, or who have recently returned to their home countries at the end of their exchange shall attend Norec’s homecoming training. The training is mandatory for all participants in Norec’s programs and consists of two parts; a digital pre-training and this weeklong training that runs from Sunday afternoon until Friday night.

The main purpose of the homecoming training is to identify and reflect on results achieved, and competences acquired during their stay abroad, and how to share these results and new competences when they return home.

During the training we go through the following modules:

    • Communicating your exchange
    • Identifying experiences and new learning
    • Coming home; challenges and opportunities
    • Thematic workshops
  • Registration

3 months before the training, Norec sends a sign-up link to the coordinating partner. The coordinating partner is responsible for submitting names and contact information for each participant before the deadline that is due 5 weeks before the training.

Shortly after the deadline Norec sends the digital pre-training to each participant. This digital pre-training complements the on-site training. At the same time, we send out a link for transport registration and dietary requirements for the stay. Make sure to complete both no later than 2 weeks before the training starts.

  • Travel, accommodation, and other details

The training starts Sunday afternoon 3 PM.  The training ends with a farewell party on Friday night. Norec covers full board from Sunday to Saturday after breakfast. Norec covers full board accommodation in twin rooms.

Extra nights before/after the training must be covered by the partnership. This means you will need to get approval from your program advisor first for these extra expenses.

Upon registration it’s the coordinating partner’s responsibility to facilitate the purchase of flight tickets.  Travel costs are funded through the Collaboration Agreement budget, covered by the partner.

If you need help obtaining a visa and/or a hotel confirmation letter, contact Norec’s training team via training@norec.no.
